Dear Families of the Academy of Our Lady,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the new academic year 2008-2009. This is sure to be a most exciting year as the Academy of Our Lady continues to grow into one of the finest educational institutions in the area. It is my prayer that with Our Lord's grace and all of us working together we will prepare your children for the future. For this reason I ask you to please read all the enclosed material carefully. You will notice that a few changes have been made. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school. It is very important that we begin the school year properly.
School Start-up Days: Parents must attend one of these days. They will be at Academy of Our Lady, 510 Grand Ave., Waukegan on:
Friday, August 15th, 2:00-6:00PM
or Saturday, August 16th, 9:00-1:00PM
UNIFORMS: Please find the enclosed sheet with uniform guidelines. This year we are asking our families to purchase the uniforms at local retailers, without any logo. Last year's uniforms with the Academy of Our Lady logo are acceptable and we still have a few pieces for sale during Startup Days. Students should be in full uniforms on Tuesday, August 26. BUS STOPS: Bussing is provided by the Waukegan and North Chicago School Districts for families that live 1 ½ miles from the school. Please know the cross streets near your home so that we may do our best to accommodate you.
SCHOOL PHYSICALS: Bring completed school physicals for all students needing new ones. Current physicals are necessary for Pre-K, K and 6th Grade and all students new to the State of Illinois. All required immunizations should be completed before the beginning of the school year.
DENTAL HEALTH FORMS: This is a new requirement for students entering Kindergarten, Grade 2 and Grade 6.
VISION EXAMS: Required for all Kindergarten students and all students new to the State of Illinois.
LUNCH PROGRAM: The breakfast and lunch programs are available this school year. Please fill out the eligibility form for the free and reduced lunch program. It is important that each family fill out this form. Federal aid to our school depends upon the number of qualified applicants in our school. If you want to order lunches, you will need to complete the lunch order form at this time. If you pay full or reduced price, you will need to pay for the first month as well.
TLC, Before and After School Care Program: Registration will be taking place on these days.
SPORTS: Information packets will be available including the physical form.
The Kermes (Carnival) at Holy Family Church is being held on August 8th, 9th, and 10th. This year our school will sponsor a food booth with games and prizes! We need volunteers, so join in the fun. Call the school for more information. Remember, all proceeds benefit your children's education!
